Safeguarding & Welfare Policy 2024

Safeguarding determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their life. 

Creative Crawley believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults by a commitment to a practice which protects them. 

This policy applies to all Creative Crawley employees (freelance and PAYE), volunteers and sessional workers and all the children, young people and vulnerable adults Creative Crawley works with. 

We aim to provide safe participatory and creative opportunities for all the children, young people and vulnerable adults who are part of our projects.

In order to do this we recognise that:

• The welfare of the child/young person/vulnerable adult is paramount. 
• All children, young people and vulnerable adults whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/or sexual identity have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse. 
• Working in partnership with children, young people and vulnerable adults, their parents, carers and other agencies is essential in promoting their welfare. The purpose of the policy is: 
• To provide protection for the children, young people and vulnerable adults who receive services from the Creative Crawley, including the children of adult members or users. 
• To provide staff and volunteers with guidance on procedures they should adopt in the event that they suspect a child, young person or vulnerable adult may be experiencing, or be at risk of, harm.

Creative Crawley will operate safeguarding procedures in line with multi-agency safeguarding arrangements put in place by the safeguarding partners. 

We will endeavour to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults by:

• Adopting child protection guidelines through procedures and a code of conduct for staff and volunteers. 
• Recruiting staff and volunteers safely ensuring all necessary checks are made. 
• Sharing information about child protection and good practice with children, parents, staff and volunteers. 
• Sharing information about concerns with agencies who need to know, involving parents and children appropriately.
• Providing effective management for staff and volunteers through supervision, support and training. 

We are also committed to reviewing our policy and good practice annually.

Modern Slavery Statement 2023

Creative Crawley does not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business and we are committed to ensuring that it does not take place in our supply chains.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2023.

Beliefs and Values
Creative Crawley has a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically in all our business practices, acting with due diligence to implement and enforce effective systems and control within our business to ensure modern slavery and human trafficking does not take place anywhere within our business or supply chains. We are committed to ensuring there is complete transparency in our business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery, consistent with the disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same high ethical standards to be upheld by all our business
partners and demand that their supply chains aim to respect the pledge to eradicate modern slavery.
