From Amsterdam to Crawley – building a creative community

Creative Crawley are delighted to hold monthly Woffee! sessions at its artist-maker space West Green Studios at 1 Town Barn Road in Crawley. These sessions are hosted by visual artist Sarah Maple and are a way for professional creatives from Crawley, Surrey and West Sussex to build a community and discuss their ideas.

Sarah was inspired to start Woffee! by her friends Esther Koch and Hans Bos and from KochxBos Gallery in Amsterdam. Hans said “In 2013 we started the Woffie in Amsterdam where we gathered some parents from our kids’ school to have a weekly conversation and happy drink before we all started to go to work.

Most of the parents were either movie directors, theatre makers, designers, PR managers and did not have a job at an official organisation so no conversations with colleagues at the business coffee machine. So we thought of the name and since it’s on Wednesday and it’s about coffee, we named it WOFFIE. In English translated to Woffee.

We’ve done it now for such a long time we have solved each other’s problems. We talked about each other’s projects, and it feels like a real good artistic family. Sometimes there are five people, sometimes eight, sometimes twelve, sometimes three, but it’s always a fluffy time and we love it.

We all send our friends in Crawley all the best of luck and we hope they have such a great and warm time as we all have had for the past years!”

Woffee! will be on Wednesdays 8 October, 12 November and 3 December, 10am – midday. Why not join us for the next one?
