Art Has Always Been My Language – Writing Poetry at Woodzy & Friends

As part of our fabulous first ever Woodzy and Friends, which showcased exciting local creative talents Enkay Rockson and Beth Williams, Woodzy invited the audience to generate ideas for a collaborative poem he’d write and share by the end of the night!
The audience were given the prompts ‘Home is….’, Bringing together….’ and ‘Art is a place where…’. Woodzy worked his magic and crafted this beautiful poem.
How would you respond to the prompts?
A poem which reads:
Art has always been my language
When I’m sick of day to day life art is the bandage
It makes everything better
We create in Crawley and come together.
Home is a place to Cherish
A place to feel safe
Home is a peaceful place.
Home is not here but it can be here for a while
Home is where I smile
Home is where the heart is
The heart is where you art is
Home is where the heart belongs
Bringing together art and songs
Warmth and laughter
Looking forward to what’s coming after.

Art is a place where your soul can be freed
Bringing us what we don’t realise we need
Home is a cat in your lap
A mug of tea whilst rain patters outside
Creativity is always on our side
Home is love
It’s all of the above

Art is a place where you can play freely and wildly
Home is where the heart belongs
It’s where we write and where we’re wrong
Where ideas are born
Where anything is possible
It’s the brilliance of Beth Williams
The soulful sounds of Tristan and Enkay Rockson
Creativity can help us hurdle the obstacles

Lyrics and riddles
Laughter and giggles
Art sandwiched in the middle
The little bit of togetherness that the community
Needs
Creativity is in you and it’s in me
A place where we can be
All of us create the creativity
Peace.
