Creative Crawley is looking for a new Resident Artist, with 3 months costs supported by Karl Singporewala + the design bureau (KSdb) for the incoming artist.
Creative Crawley has one shared studio space available in Unit 79/80, County Mall Shopping Centre from December 2026 – May 2027 and are on the look out for a new Resident Artist to join Sarah Maple and Beth Williams in a shared space. Artist and architect Karl Singporewala is generously offering to pay the rent costs for 3 months studio space, plus mentorship opportunities over this period for the incoming artist.
We welcome applications from visual artists working across all mediums and with at least two years of professional practice (we’re currently not able to accept applications from students). We are looking for someone who can commit to a six month contract (3 months free, courtesy of Karl, and 3 months at £100 per month).
Karl’s practice spans sculpture, installation and architectural design, so is able to offer more tailored mentorship to artists with similar interests. He has decades of experience and is a RWA Academician at the Royal West of England Academy and is happy to offer guidance to artists working across disciplines.
Unit 79/80 is a multiuse space, with regular activities, workshops and public performances taking place. The incoming Resident Artist must be comfortable with this being a studio within a shared space and be mindful of sound bleed. Resident Artists work closely with Creative Crawley’s Producer and are an important part of Crawley’s cultural ecology.
What the current Resident Artists say:
‘I have always wanted a studio in Crawley and it’s been almost impossible to find a suitable space. It’s so lovely to have a creative community in Crawley and I can’t wait to see what more connections come from this.’ Sarah Maple
‘Having a studio space in the centre of Crawley is something I never could have imagined a few years ago […] nothing beats being around other artists. Whether it’s just having a chat, collaborating or bouncing ideas off each other. It’s also an amazing space to bring clients into, they immediately pick up on the energy of the space and get to experience a little of what creatives in Crawley have to offer.’ Beth Williams
