Karl Singporewala: Star Sculpture Building Workshop

12th Mar 26 | 6:00 pm | Unit 78/90 County Mall Shopping Centre
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Creative Crawley presents a hands-on geometry sculpture workshop led by architect Karl Singporewala and his studio practice, Karl Singporewala + the design bureau (KSdb), at their new studio space at Unit 79/80 County Mall. Delivered in partnership with Creative Crawley, this session invites participants to explore how architectural thinking translates into sculptural form.

Through a short introduction to contemporary practice, attendees will learn how briefing and budget constraints can become drivers of creative value rather than limitations. The workshop will unpack some of KSdb’s real project examples, showing how design decisions evolve from concept through to fabrication and public presentation.

Participants will then collaborate practically on constructing a new three-metre star sculpture based on a Kepler–Poinsot polyhedron (a small stellated dodecahedron, see images as examples). Working as a team, participants will engage with scale, structure, and material assembly, gaining confidence in practical making and shared decision-making. The emphasis is on experimentation, dialogue, and collective problem-solving, mirroring the realities of professional art and architecture projects.

By the end of the session, participants will have contributed to a striking public artwork, developed an understanding of architecture-to-art methodologies, and gained insight into how collaborative processes shape contemporary sculpture and community-focused creative practice.

For creative professionals and those who would like to learn about sculpture, ages 18 +
