The Souvenir Shop by Show Pony

4th Jun 26 | 10:00 am - 12:30 pm | Maidenbower Park Community Club

BY INVITATION ONLY

The Souvenir Shop is a new interactive show and installation by Show Pony – designer Kat Heath and theatre director Tara Boland, developed and commissioned as part of Crawley’s Creative Playground. The Show Pony team hosted a series of workshops on nostalgia, memories, joy and what a souvenir of Crawley would look like with the local Age UK group Sunshine Seniors. The workshops have informed the development of The Souvenir Shop.

The Souvenir Shop is a playful, sensory and interactive exploration of memory, nostalgia and joy, created with communities, including
people living with dementia, seniors, families and local residents in Crawley.

Part penny arcade, part faded seaside stall, the piece centres around a transportable “souvenir shop on wheels” filled with strange
objects, tactile interactions, immersive sound, responsive technologies and theatrical encounters. Audiences will be invited to help
rekindle a mysterious memory-making machine through touch, play and collective imagination.

The Souvenir Shop will be an homage to faded happy memories, engaging audiences with intricacy, heart and thought-provoking design.

This event is a work in progress sharing for an invited audience only.
