The Creative Playground

What’s happening

The project began in April 2022. Since the announcement of the funding from Arts Council England in Dec 2021, the Core Consortium and Creative Crawley have been working hard to finalise the funding agreement with Arts Council England and prepare the detailed documents that form part of the agreement.

In March and April 2023, 16 local people took part in a process to determine the values and objectives for the project. You can read about it here: Creative Playground People’s Theory of Change

In May 2023 we began the test programme; spending time listening to local people, learning what they want to do and how this project could help more people in Crawley improve their lives through arts and culture.

The project runs until March 2025 and we’ll be applying for more support from Arts Council England to enable it to continue until 2028 at least. The first year was about setting up the project, putting the structures in place to enable maximum collaboration with local people. We’ve developed a business plan and the test programme started in May 2023. It will change and evolve depending on how the people of Crawley lead it.
