We first started working with Dimensions Outreach 3 Way, an organisation who support adults with learning disabilities in 2024. Our Community Producer Becky introduced them to artist Victoria Melody who ran a biscuit making workshop at their base at the Charis Centre in West Green, with them in July 2024.

The group then visited our Around the Lake festival in July 2024, where they met Victoria again and also braved the Crossings project by Luke Jerram where they went on a rowing boat on Tilgate Lake. Many of them had never rowed a boat before.

In October and November 2024, Dimensions Outreach 3 Way took part in a series of workshops with Leap Then Look and shaped a new element of their exhibition Play Interact Explore. In March 2025, the group visited the exhibition Play Interact Explore which we presented in Unit 79/80 County Mall Shopping Centre.

At that event, some of the participants, suggested they’d like to visit the Frameless exhibition in London. As part of our Come With Us programme, we were able to make it happen.

In March 2025, Graham from Dimensions Outreach 3 Way asked a simple question: “Can we make a film?”
A year later, sitting in Creative Crawley’s theatre space with 40 people, watching their faces light up as the film played, the answer felt pretty clear – yes, we can.
This project was a real reminder of what it takes to make something meaningful together. It wasn’t just about the final film — it was about making sure the whole process felt thoughtful, enjoyable, and genuinely shaped by the people involved. Taking the time to do that well has strengthened how we approach projects, from maintaining quality to building stronger relationships with local communities.
Working closely with Dimensions Outreach 3 Way from the start was key. Together, we interviewed filmmakers and landed on an excellent filmmaker and facilitator, Amara Bjorkhaug. Her approach, attitude and skill were instrumental to shaping the workshops, making sure the project was truly co-created.
The workshops themselves were designed to feel welcoming and fun, creating space for Amara to explore the participants’ ideas and decide what they wanted the film to be. From there, those ideas were carefully developed into real parts of the final film — something everyone could recognise and feel proud of.
The film is launching in July 2026 at Crawley’s Fusion Mela and we are currently entering it into short film festivals.
