Beth Williams

Living Textiles Artist and Fashion Designer

Beth is a Resident Artist at Unit 79/80 County Mall

Beth Williams is a queer, disabled designer and multi-disciplinary artist based in Crawley, West Sussex, specialising in Living Textiles, bio-design and knitwear.

We first worked with Beth when she collaborated with Sophie Merriner to create a Fashion Show for Crawley in 2025. Since then she has offered workshops and talks about her work for the people of Crawley. They were  a resident Artist at West Green Studios 25/26.

In 2025, we commissioned Beth to create Together We Are a Garden for the West Green Window Gallery – the piece is now in Unit 79/80 County Mall.

Their practice centres around their experience of an inaccessible world, as well as the relationship between human and environmental sustainability. Their living textiles and garments grow alongside them. They collaborate to raise questions about the lifespan of clothing, and ask their audience to consider what happens at the end of a garment’s use by presenting an alternative afterlife through their living garments.
